BEIJING, Jan. 28 -- A Chinese senior publicity official said on Monday that the publishing industry should become more internationally competitive by improving its quality and efficiency.
Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, said that the publishing industry should make strategic adjustments to shift its focus from quantity to quality.
Publishing houses will be encouraged to follow the principle of "go global" to raise their competitiveness, Liu told a national publishing work conference.
He said that more work needed to be done to cultivate publishing talent and improve laws and regulations concerning publication.
